Can Cyber Squatters Really Be Stopped?

Do you ever think about cyber squatters and how they can affect you? Read on you might be surprised. First of all as you very well know, it’s your domain name that identifies you and in particular your site. For most people it might be hard to think that their domain name may be stolen, but that is completely possible!

Essentially cyber squatters are looking to steal your identity on the web and they can actually do it very easily. For instance, if you are listed at, they might go and register, or When they have this, they will contact you and try to sell you these domain names and the site for quite a lot of money.

So what happens if you refuse? That is a good question; this is where things start to get ugly. Your refusal might mean that a competitor can get a site that will take type in traffic from you. You might find that you lose business over the confusion and that you might lose customers as well!

But all is not lost and you really should not let the cyber squatters to harass you, here is what you may do for instance; First make sure that you are the one that people have to go through to get authorization to do this. For instance, head to your domain name registrar and make sure that you lock in authorized entries of your claim of other domain names. You can easily buy them yourself and you will of course be able to control what happens.

You can arrange it so that if anyone is interested in these sites that they will be given your contact information and then make sure that you check with your registrar for the time frame that you have available; otherwise, you won’t be able to check if the versions of your site ending in things like .com, .net, or .org are active. Make sure that you don’t loose these domain name twins.

In conclusion do not let cyber squatters put you in a bad position; you have worked very hard to get where you are and you can work hard to keep of these guys too. You can do this by getting the authorization and the right to your domain name lookalikes and you will rest much easier.
